Firsts are important. There is that new and exciting feeling you get before familiarity sets in, when everything is more vibrant and lucid. There is the cracking the champagne bottle on a ship’s bow celebration of something new off to a promising start. Then there is the whole groundbreaking thing, like when the first human ever stepped on the moon, and it marked a massive leap forward for the world.
I’m excited for this.
This isn’t for me. I’ll be the first (pun intended) to say it. This is for everyone out there who has fibromyalgia and needs a community to fit into. This is for all of you out there who need a voice, and who also need their ear to the ground to hear what is up and coming for you. Our understanding of fibromyalgia is constantly developing, and there is a gap between what medical science is learning and what people who live it every day are exposed to.
I don’t have fibromyalgia. I don’t have first hand experience of what you are going through. But I do see and have contact with fibromyalgia patients on a daily basis, and I want there to be a change.
Now I could put everything about me right up here and you could read it, and that would be simple and fast, but it is rather one-way. Instead, I want to meet you, and I want you to meet me. The only way this whole thing becomes something more than me, something that sparks a community, is for us all to speak.
So Rule 1: This isn’t for me. This is for you. Read and enjoy, but please also comment and engage! This will build organically into the sum of all of us.
Haven’t figured out Rule 2. Not sure there will be one. Whatever. Future us will sort that out.
Let’s introduce ourselves. My name is Nic, and welcome to your blog.
